I believe that to generate 'proper' PDFs, you still need Acrobat rather than doing it via the Print dialog boxes in OS X. By 'proper' I think I mean with the fonts correctly embedded and probably a bunch of other things.
Acrobat 6 gives you the Adobe PDF print driver which appears in your printer list. This worked for me for a while, but now when I attempt to generate a PDF I get a variety of postscript errors. This seems a bit sporadic and sometimes I can sneak one through which seems to work.
If I try and output to a postscript file first (for later distilling), Distiller also usually fails to generate a PDF file.
I have tried trashing various preferences, trashed and re-generated the Adobe PDF driver, trashed and re-installed Acrobat. None has worked.
Has anyone else had this problem? Any workarounds?
Cheers, Phil
