My compute was angry.. I ran Disk Warrior and I seem to have only 851 mb left.. i swear I had more room before.

anyway, does Disk Warrior do anything that might affect disk usage?

Second, what is the best way to unistall programs you don't need. For instance, I don't use MAIL and I'm sure I can find other things I don't need.

Nearly all programs in Mac OS X can be uninstalled by - get this - just dragging them to the trash.

Certain software installs support files elsewhere, so if you want to make sure, search your hard drive for remnants. This shouldn't be necessary or exceptionally desirable in most cases though - whatever support files there may be don't affect your computer's performance and use very little space.

If you haven't already, I'd first of all reboot - it could be that you have some large temp files or a large number of swapfiles that are taking up disk space - these will be cleared by a restart.

Second, download OmniDiskSweeper and use it to find out which files/folders are eating up disk space and see if you can delete any of them.

Thirdly, if you still only have about 1GB of space left, do yourself a big favour and backup any files you can and delete them from your HD. You will impact your systems performance and your ability to use the machine with so little room for manoeuvre.
