Since installing toast I cannot get apple's disc burner recognise a blank disc. Although more powerful, toast is not as easy to use for the rest of the family. So can I switch off toast autorun upon inserting a blank cd.

Check the CD/DVD settings in the System Preferences, you should be able to set which application to start, or none if you want that.

Have you tried going to System Preferences -> CDs and DVDs?

What a dumbo I am. I tried seraching through everything to do with toast itself, but didn't think to look in the preferences.
Thanks again

No. You're not a dumbo. But what you could have done would have been to open Mac Help and ask the very same question you asked us...
"How do I stop toast autostarting when blank disc inserted?"
Your answer would have been the number 1 choice! Mac Help is one of the most overlooked sources of useful information.
