First, a bit about how I have my music setup:

I have all mp3, Movies, and Pictures stored on a seperate volume(partition) and dynamic links to them in my /home folder. that works great.

I frequently use streamripperX to download streams and rip them to mp3. Thats how I get my music.

On that seperate volume, I have folders containing the different genres of music I listen to. In itunes, I have playlists that are those genres/folders. Is there a way to have itunes keep in sync with those folders, so that when I place a new mp3 into those folders it automagically adds itself to the corresponding playlist?

when you add an mp3 to your itunes library, just give it a "genre"

then you can choose to play music only in that genre - there's no need for playlists at all.
