So after being unsuccessful in using my OS 9 installed version of Win98/Virtual PC 5 in Panther I erased it all and tried to do a clean install of both programs from Panther.
I installed from the VPC5 CD and upgraded to the last update (5.0.4) and then tried the Win98 install.
It went smoothly to about 80% complete and I get an error message forcing a virtual reboot and it was unsuccessful in installing 98. So I tried again and the install process crawled. After a real Mac reboot I erased all traces of the previous attempts and did a new install of 98. Again the same thing happened.
So what does this error message mean and how do I fix/solve it so I can get the thing working in OS X. Under 9 the set up works fine but I do not want to have to keep booting into classic to use it.
