Anyone know why Safari bogs my machine down at least once a day by what seem like accessing the hard drive for a long period. It's really quite inconvenient as sometimes I can't force quit Safari, whcih stops the bottleneck immediately. This bogging down has, on occasion, run for 5 minutes or more, making other programs on my machine also unusable.

I have plenty of Ram, and no other browsers, IE, Camino, do this.

Thanks. I like Safari, but this is starting to piss me off.

Haven't had the problems you describe.
I would try re-installing.

When I click on the Bookmarks menu, nothing happens for several seconds, then the spinning beachball, then the menu finally drops down. Annoying.

Maybe someone more knowledgeable has an answer to both of our problems.

Is that when you are accessing the bookmark menu for the first time after launching Safari or everytime?

I also get the slinning beachball when I access the bookmarks for the first time. I hear that's normal, althoug it too is inconvenient.

Anyone have any idea about my other Safari problem.

I believe that annoyance is the loading of all the favicons in the bookmark list....the more links you have, the more the delay I am sure...
