I am looking for a voice/sound recorder for my ibook. I noticed wiretap and sound recorder as possible apps. Does anyone know what the best sound recorder is now a days?

Thanks

I like AudioX and Audio In if you're just going to be doing recording. If you need to do some editing and filtering, go with Sound Studio.

I haven't used Sound Studio for a while. Does it finally let you open more than two tracks within the same file the way the old SoundEdit 16 used to?

Sound Studio is nice, although a bit overpriced in my book ($49.99). If you need to do multi-track and/or mixing, then Digital Performer is nice (MOTU: $795), but it is even more pricey (this one is worth it for all the functionality).

Spark ME is definitely the best way to go for a free two track recorder.

Spark XL is what I use and I love it.

Adobe Premiere used to have nice audio
input and editing capabilities. But when
they went to the OS X version (6.5), all
this seemed to disappear. It really sucks.

Anyway, excellent question. I believe I will
go check out Sound Studio.

SparkME is not free anymore. It has been discontinued.

Oh that sucks. I use Spark ME quite often. I'll have to hold on to this copy for dear life.

If I ever want to play with sound, I use Sound Studio, because it came free with our iBook.
P.S. Apple, come on, introduce an iSound or iRecord app!
