I have a 2ghz Dual, 10.3.2, QT 6.5, iMovie 3.0.3, iDVD 3.0.1. Everything is current. When dragging Quicktimes from iMovie into iDVD, I have constant problems, from constant freezes to "stuck in encoding". Encoding starts but does not advance. I have also tried using the iDVD button in iMovie experiencing the same results. I also use G4's (teacher with access to both) running the same software and have no problems. What am I missing and is this a common problem with the G5s. The G5s that I have in school (single processors) have the same problem.

Anyone with the same problem?? or no problems? or a solution?

thanks

iDVD is notorious for stalling for no good reason - and as far as I know there are no work arounds as such.

Is the version of iDVD you are using the one that came with your G5?

The other day, I installed the version of iDVD that comes in the "iLife" package onto my Dual G5. Every time it would try to encode, it would go very slow, stop and eventually lock up the computer if I waited long enough. I was seriously worried.

Then I installed the version of iDVD that came on my G5 restore disc and now it works perfectly. So, only use the version of iDVD that comes with your G5.

ckohler-

You were exactly right. Reinstalled with original G5 restore software and I am off and running. And yes, after installing Panther, I did use iLife to install iDVD.

My thanks!
