Hi, I was using mAC3dec and I want to get an mp3 out of this live performance of a band I just downloaded.
There is a little talking before the band performs and I was wondering if I can somehow take that part out. Like just extract whatever of the mp3 I want to, you know?
Also, when you extranct an mp3 out of an mpg, is it supposed to take REALLY REALLY long?
Is mAC3dec the only good extractor out there?

mAC3dec is good, but I use it mainly for converting AC3 files. To edit the file you can set mAC3dec's output to AIFF and then use a shareware sound editor like Audacity to cut out what you don't want, then use an MP3 encoder to encode it.

QT Pro can do it and you can just select and cut/copy out whatever you don't want.

You're probably refering to cut/copying MP3s (which I doubt QT Pro can save as MP3 afterwards), but for everyone else: QT Pro can't do anything with audio in a (muxed) MPEG file.

Actually, I think it can. Can't you just copy the audio track? Or am I thinking of something else?

QuickTime Pro hasn't been able to mess with MPEG files since version 4 or 5.
Extract the audio from the MPEG, convert it in an AIFF file, open the AIFF in QuickTime Pro, edit it, and then use iTunes to convert the AIFF file into an MP3.
