Virtual PC 6 Doesn't "See" My Optical Drive

Virtual PC 6 (XP Pro) running on iMac 700 with superdrive. Panther 10.3.2
Whatever disc I put in the drive is not read.
Anyone have a fix??

Does the CD drive icon at windowed mode bottom blink when CD is inserted? Can you eject the CD from that icon? VPC doesn't read DVD's but should "see" a CD, as long as it isn't formatted only as HFS+.

I have never seen that CD drive icon blink and I can't eject the disc by clicking on it.
When I drag a CD icon onto the CD drive icon in the virtual PC window it recognizes the disc as a "Z" drive. But if I click on it, it still won't show me the contents of the disc.
