OK. This one really scares me. On my monitor, occasionally, flashing greenlike light, irregular interval, sometimes I have sessions without it happening at all - today it turned up as I turned the iMac on and left it for a coupple of minutes... . It flashes a coupple of times then it disappaers - what the hell is it? Software conflicts? Hardware? Electric phenomenons?
iMac/B/32RAM/RAM & Speed doubler etc etc.

Try using a different power outlet/surge protector. If the problems persist, you may have a hardware problem. A clicking noise during the flashes is also a hint that the power source is going out or is unable to provide the correct power for video. Most likely the analog board where the power supply is located may need replacement. Any Apple service provider should be able to help.
