Is there MAME software for OSX yet? Or does anyone have advice for installing the Unix version.

I haven't touched MAME in ages....last time I tried it was like 1998. LOL.

Anyhow... I just tried downloading a 0.74u2 version off of macmame.net for OS X

http://www.macmame.org/left_border.html

However, when I tried installing it I got a "no mountable file system available" error.

I also tried downloading a 0.77 version (unofficial) off of a japanese website, but all that happens with that one is that stuffit expander will start, but then simply stop. Nothing else happens.

Are either of these files not Panther-compliant or something? What's the deal?
Now I know, and knowing is half the battle!

Sounds like a problem with your installation - I've found problems like that are sometimes caused by login items; try logging in while holding down the shift key.
Always proofread to check if you any words out.

Latest Version works great for me. TiBook 10.3.1

I'm actually planning on having an 80's Video Game party.

damnit...still doesn't work after rebooting on "safe mode" using the shift hold down.

Forgot to mention that this is on my (semi) new 15" albook, I don't know if that has anything remote to do with this bizarre problem.

I did re-install panther as an "archive and install" yesterday...but I checked "preserve user settings and preferences". After that I double clicked on the .dmg file but it still wouldn't mount! The user settings and prefs. shouldn't matter right?

Anyhow...this is pretty frustrating. Ironically enough, it does work on my older BW g3 just fine, with OS 10.3.1 installed.

*shakes fist at powers above*
