I just got a good deal on a new G4 800 single proc. ($1299.)

I did take a look at the new current model dual procs. but wow, those things are loud as heck! Big huge fan inside and the air ducts in front. You can hear those things from across the room. The G4 I got is about half as loud.

Anyways, can I overclock this safely? If yes, can anyone point me to info on how to do this, etc.?

Thanks.

take a look at
http://www.bekkoame.ne.jp/~t-imai/maine.html
it lists info on how to overclock many machines. For most G4s this isn't an easy process, however... in order to clock up from 800 mhz on the quicksilvers, you'll need to solder in a tiny resistor. Unless you're comfortable with that kind of thing I wouldn't recommend it.

Hey, I have the same machine as yours and in the same boat. I might overclock it to 867 MHz and monitor the temp. and see what happens.

Holy smokes! I have been using the resistor settings provided by that site for years and didn't know they were all done by a chick! Wow! Usually you would automatically assume it was a dude since the is the norm. Not so much I guess!

Rats, my machine's missing... is there any known way to overclock a PowerMac G4 Sawtooth?

Update
Found something, seems like it's way to complicated

You remove the heat sink, remove the CPU board and remove a
resistor. Of course, that resistor is half the size of a
gnat. And you need nerves of steel to remove it. And if you
mess up you basically ruin your processor board.
