Just got off the phone with Apple to ask about my order of 6/24/03 (Dual G5, BT, 9800, 250gb) which has not shipped and is showing a shipping date on or before 9/29/03. Not an EDU order.

The guy indicated that Apple had just sent out emails indicating another possible extension of the ship date. I have not gotten such an email.

My CTO order, he said, was "under construction".

Also, he indicated that there was a supply problem with the 250gb hard drives from, he thought, ATI.

Has anyone else heard about this delay due to the 250gig hd?

There has been talk of the 250Gig drives causing a delay. But, my Dualy with a 250Gig HD was sent out 5 days before my on or before date...

revs
I free'd my mind... now it won't come back.

I ordered on 6/24 with almost exactly your config (modem and combo drive were different), same dates 8/29 -> 9/29, mine shipped yesterday.

None of this makes sense from a constrainment perspective. I'm wondering if there is some reproducible glitch on a percentage of systems that is forcing them to do a two-day burn-in or something.
