I bought the FirmTek SATA adapter (www.firmtek.com) and a 200GB Maxtor SATA drive to put in a 867 Quicksilver. I went SATA over PATA because I plan to upgrade to a Rev. B G5 and want to stick the HD in.

Bottom line, the adapter works great. One issue though, Disk Utility in 10.2 cannot format the drive. It gets stuck trying to unmount it. Booting into 9 and formatting there worked. After I tried to format in 10.2 again. No joy.

I have no idea if it is a drive issue or an issue with the SATA host adapter. I have contacted FirmTek about the issue and will report back. If anybody has the card, or is thinking of one, take note. I wouldn't purchase just yet if you cannot boot into 9.
