Hi guys. I have posted on here my troubles with a HDD that I have a couple of weeks a go.
I have tried every option I can think of to get the drive going again but nothing.
I have tried
Disk Warrior 3.0.2
Tech Tool 4.0.2
FWB Harddisk Tools (OS9)
Disk Utility
The header is screwed is all I can determine.
I know the drive itself is still ok for the all the surface/media scans. The details about the drive that appear in Tech Tool and Disk Warrior, know the drives name, free space etc...
I am buying a new drive today to replace this drive. What I was after is an app or way to get the files off then erase the screwed drive.
I know Norton in OS9 has an Unerase app, but is that any good?
Should I 'initialized' the drive and then attempt to rescue files off it?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Am I beating a dead horse? Fingers crossed x

This same type of thing happened to me a little while ago. Maybe not a problem with the headers. None of the apps helped to fix my problem. Oddly enough a boot into Mac OS 9 allowed the drive to show up, so I was able to copy my files over. I was very lucky, hopefully you will be too. Hope there wasn't anything too important on there. BTW, what kind of computer and drive was it?

Wish that booting into 9 would help me!
OS9 is giving me no love.
It's an external Firewire drive plugged into my PowerBook.
The drive is an 80Gb Barracuda. Though they are supposed to be good? Only hard it 12 months.

Try Prosoft's Data Rescue X.
You can use the demo to see if it can recover anything (the demo just won't actually do it).

Believe it or not. After all the things I tryed and how many times I almost intialised the drive, I went into Disk Utility and fixed the OS9 drivers (I didn't know existed till then) on the drive and boohyaaa. ALL GOOD. Hell yes!
All the apps I used told me is was all over, nothing can be done in OS9 and OSX. I messed around for about two weeks trying everything and fighting the thoughts of just saying f*ck it and erase it.
Needless to say I copied everything off soon as.
Earsed the drive and now every app tells me the drive in now fine.
Hope that may help out anyone else with a similar problem
