I have had my Quicksilver G4 for a while now and it has been fine, but today the DVD drive it has decided to stop reading and burning any disks.
I I put in any CD or DVD (e.g. my Panther install CD) the Finder gives a 'There are no readable volumes on the disk' error. Trying to force a CD restart doesn't do anything, holding down Option on restart wont show a bootable CD (e.g. the aforementioned Panther CD) as an option. Booting from my backup partition has the same result
In iTunes it says the 'Disk burner software isn't found' (I have done a reinstall of iTunes, no change), and Toast comes up with a 'unable to detect available free space on disk' error.
In a word it seams bugared, would maybe using a CD drive lens cleaning disk do anything although I have never had to use one before? Or has something odd happened to the drive and I need a now one?
