G5's have either a 450W or a 600W PS.

I am not very sure but I think the first generation ones and single processor ones had a 450W. Second Gen all have 600W.

I believe that all single proc machines have 450W while all dualies have 600W supplies, regardless of the generation of the machine. I can tell you from firsthand experience that first generation dual 2.0's had 600W supplies.

damn that's a lot of juice...

but then again, Apple has consistently been using large power supplies... just not THAT large.

Considering all of the problems that I'm having with my (much) smaller PC power suppies, I think Apple compensated in the right direction.

yea.. since the GPU and CPU demand a lot of juice.

On my DP 1.25 (FW800), it has the 360W p.s. Meanwhile, I pack the G4 with 2 optical drives, 4 hard disks, PCI card, and AE card, so I'm happy with it.
