Hello fellow MacNNers....
I'm having an irritating issue regarding my Rev A Dual 2 PowerMac G5... I'm hoping you guys can help, donate some knowledge. I'm not sure if this is a PowerMac issue or a peripherals issue, so admins, feel free to move this thread...
It seems that the front USB port is dysfunctional and has a completely inconsistent track record w/ my devices. Normally, I have my Wacom Intuos2 plugged in to the front USB port, and it seems to work fine til I put the machine to sleep. When my PowerMac wakes up, it gives me an error, "tablet driver failed to load". At which point, the Wacom just doesn't work (until i restart). It's still getting power from the bus as the light on top (of the Wacom) is on and changes color when the pen hits the tablet-pad. But, no movement of the cursor or anything like that...
I have noticed that it seems to be dysfunctional via ALL USB, but the front USB port seems to be defective. Sometimes, plugging random USB devices in to the front causes kernal panics and other things. Again, sorry this is kinda vague, but it really does seem to happen at random.
I also have a RevB Powermac G5 (dual 2, just like this one, but RevB), but it's a completely different experience. No kernal panics, no USB issues, and no noise, whatsoever. I have only had ONE machine crash (with the RevB) in the past 6 months of ownership and that was during heavy use of Motion w/ low RAM and a zillion other apps going (tsk tsk, i know

).
Anyway, this Rev A machine has had it's lot of issues. Does anyone have any advice to my USB woes? Any similar experiences?
Here are my specs:
