no joke...

Its sad...i have even let it fully discharge...then left it out for days...put it back in...

It charges to 100% in 36 min (with the pbook running) and then it still only lasts exactly 16 minutes.

i even verified this with the X-charge app, to make sure OS X wasn't misreporting it.

Any ideas as to why this happened?

I have applecare...I guess I need to give them a call.

If you've had the 'book for a couple of years, the battery has in all likelihood run to the end of its life. Li-Ion batterys only get a certain number of charge cycles before they start to fail, and it sounds like you just need to replace yours (if you have applecare they should take care of it for you).

Yep it sounds like its time to replace the battery. Batteries only last so long before they their life cycle dies out.
