Could anyone suggest a good wireless card that I can use in a 15 inch Ti powerbook that will give better reception than the built in airport card?

thanks

You can use certain 802.11g wireless cards in OS X (Jaguar and Panther) without needing separate drivers, so long as you have the right version of the Airport Software installed. For Panther, it's Airport Software 3.2 I believe.

The key is that the card has to have a Broadcom chipset in it. That's what Apple uses in their Airport Extreme cards. Linksys' WPC54G is one, but there are others too.

The wireless range problem with the TiBook is the poor antenna placement -- there are just very limited portals in the TiBook's titanium case for the signal to get in/out.

One option you might want to explore is a wireless card which fits in the PCMCIA slot (with an integrated antenna which sticks out)... Not as elegant as a completely hidden airport card/antenna, but it might give you a lot better range.
