Upon first right click on a file, or even opening drop down links in the Safari Bookmark bar, the computer has to spin before displaying the contents.

Does anyone else see this in panther? I would think this pb was powerful enough to not have those kind of delays in the os.

I will note that once the right click has been done once, or the Bookmark bar drop down menu has been clicked, it will snap quickly, its just that first time that lags.
15" PB/1.25 G4/1gb ram/80gb hd/Superdrive
+ special screen with white spots AND dimmer right side than left. 2 Keyboard replacements, warping Al case wobbles on a flat table, squeeks when typing...etc.etc.etc. Superb!

That's always been the case. I blame it on virtual memory, but I could be wrong.

Energy savings? Does it occur under battery and power adapter conditions? Do you have your hard drive to spin down? Early? Often? Bueller? Bueller?

Wait. I have an idea that you may not be too keen about: Send your limited edition SemiDimmed White-Spotted AL15 back to Apple. Sure, your replacement AL15 may no longer be the limited edition model, but it is still a powerbook.
I, ASIMO.
