I have a G4 Powerbook which is running on Panther. I need to get my screen fixed and was hoping to use my old G3 powerbook (running on 9.2) as a back up which means that I would have to install my OS X system on it. Is that possible? What do you recomend? I just need to be able to access my .mac account, word files some files and my Calender program (which isn't ical)
Thanks.
Tom

It should work fine. Since you aren't running any real processor intensive apps, you should be fine.

What model of G3 PowerBook do you have? If it's a Wallstreet (233-300 MHz), it won't be able to run Panther. A Lombard (333-400 MHz) or Pismo (400-500 MHz) will run Panther just fine.

I read a few people used XPostFacto to install X on their Wallstreets. Best of luck in your screen repair.
