I've been using my new 12" PB with my current network (older Silver Airport Base Station) with no problems until this week. Suddenly my rates have taken a nose dive. Internet speeds are like using a dial-up and wireless printing just hangs. Wireless speeds on my desktop are fine, though.

The sudden drop doesn't seem to be tied to any sort of software update or anything. I've tried everything I can think of to get the rates back where they were before. I've even reset the ABS back to factory settings. Nothing.

Since the desktop seems unaffected the problem lies with the Powerbook, but I don't know what.

Anyone else mixing Airport Extreme with an older ABS? I really don't want to buy a new ABS just to find out that the problem is in my powerbook.

I had the same thing and i came up with this. First, maybe your ABS is dying, I've had 2 replaced. I think they were poorly designed, because there were no proper ventilation. My recent replacement then experiencing the same drop rate, but later i found out that my new cordless phone sometimes interference with my silver ABS.
