It's totally wonderful theatre: It says a lot about elder care while puncturing a hugely favored toy! Much better than putting an iPad into a blender.
And more translation would probably help: While the daughter's cutting potatoes into the pot, she then asks a second question about how he's getting along with the OS. He says, what's that about some sort of OS? while putting the parsley into the pot using the chef's knife...
