Not much change for me. No app has won the coveted final spot on the app pane yet. I did decide to move all the folders to page two and deeper.

I've been debating downloading a jailbreak utility so that I can take Safari off the bottom dock area and replace it with Chrome.

You don't need to jailbreak for that.

You don't want to see mine. It's a mess. Once I had more than 2 screens of icons it became obvious that a swipe and search was far more efficient than trying to keep a constantly growing pile of icons in some sort of logical order.

I started reading from the bottom and I thought, "that looks like D&D artwork". I remember the old Dragon Magazine had some really good artwork as well... Looks nice.

If I can find my iPhone, I'll post its home screen. It'll make you wince at how much pink it has.

Doesn't having a bright background image mean a higher battery usage?

On an iPhone: probably not. What takes energy is the backlight, and the backlight is lit as one unit, so it has to be as bright as the brightest single pixel on the screen. I suspect that Apple doesn't bother figuring that out, so it just runs the brightness at the level you set in the settings. It would be interesting to implement local dimming, where each segment of the display has its backlight brightness lowered to the level of the brightest pixel, like some expensive TVs do, but probably Apple won't bother.
On a phone with an OLED display, it does matter - a darker display draws less power.
