After years of avoiding ipods, I finally gave in and bought an iPhone, but I am extremely disappointed so far.

I cannot beleive that not only can I not send a picture to another phone by bluetooth, but I cannot even send a contact as a business card by bluetooth which is something I have been able to do with Nokias and SE's for many years.

Someone please tell me I am missing something and this is not true

You're probably not going to get much sympathy here. And for good reason. Did you bother to do any research into the iPhone before you purchased it? It helps to have realistic expectations.

Thanks for the warm welcome ...

Yes, I did actually do some research into the more advanced features, but as every bluetooth enabled phone has been capable of doing this since Noah was a lad I made a silly assumption that Apple wold have it covered .... Ah well, at least some kind people have released an app to at least enable me to use mp3s as ringtones.

The iPhone has great features .. unless you want to use it as a phone.

My pleasure. You must realize that you're behavior was somewhat troll-like. You sign up to a Mac enthusiasts forum just to rant how lame your new iPhone is.

If sending pictures and businesses cards is of utmost importance, I suggest you get rid of it.

The iPhone is pretty crippled with regard to photos and Bluetooth. You can't MMS photos to others (which is how most phones send/receive photos) and you can't do anything with Bluetooth except for a mono headset.
Mac update estimates:
MacBook Pro mid 3Q08 (Cantiga, 2.5-2.8Ghz); MacBook early-mid 4Q08 (Cantiga-G, 2.4-2.5Ghz); MacBook Air late 3Q08 (45nm); Mac Pro/Xserve mid-late 4Q08 (3+Ghz Nehalem); iMac early 1Q09 (Cantiga, 2.8-3.33Ghz, maybe quad option); Mac mini early 3Q08 (Crestline-G, 2.1-2.4Ghz 45nm).

Apple has been backpeddling on Bluetooth and phones in general for some reason. Leopard removed the little Bluetooth connection to Address Book, and the iPhone can't sync via it, something they touted for ages as a feature of OS X with other phones.

Overall I am still happy with my iPhone, but I find it odd some of the areas where they didn't quite match phones Jobs demoed on OS X 10.2.

Now that apps will be released by others, we will maybe see some relief!

If you did research and you still got one even though it doesn't have the features you want, then you probably were in for a disappointment. Sorry. Seems like your Nokias were good for you, and the iPhone isn't what you want.

Sounds like you don't like Apple products in general. Either that, or you should've gotten an iPod instead and stick with your old phone.
