Does anyone know if this is possible?

I have a few rules on my mac machine for mail and want these carried over otherwise it is useless as I get a lot of spam emails

Far as I know it isn't. Mail on the iPod is pretty basic right now, which is why I don't use it. I'm hoping that the next version of the iPhone/iPod software includes some upgrades to Mail, and that the SDK lets someone write a good spam filter.
The era of anthropomorphizing hardware is over.

The only option seems to be to use an email provide that allows server side rules, such as Gmail (if that's an option for you). The mail server would then do all the rule processing and you could just turn off the rules in Mail.
