I cant use playlists with my iPod anymore!

Hi, once my music collection exceeded the capacity of my iPod I have to use a playlist containing the songs to go on it ('iPod selection' playlist). Once I started doing this all my playlists (including on the go playlists) don't show up on my iPod except for a current on the go playlist which stays until I sync the iPod again. Any idea how to get my playlists on my iPod?
Oh yeah, my iPod is 15Gb 3G.
