yeah, this is starting to #### me off, everytime I connect to my PC through a usb+firefire ipod cable (using the usb side), the ipod freezes right when my computer knows it connects to a "portable mass-storage device", then my computer tells me "the device connected to your computer has malfunctioned, please check the drivers or retry connection" or something like that. Funny thing is, it works fine right when I disconnect my ipod from the computer by two seconds, literally. I dont really care about the music thats on there anymore, I just cant connect it to the computer at all to format it through the ipod firmware updater. Is there a way to format the ipod without connecting to a computer? Ive tried connecting by using with and without charging at the same time, using the front and back usb ports (the front usb 1.1 + the back usb 2.0), I have even tried connecting after I formatted my computer (for other reasons). What should I do? its a 3rd gen 20gb Black and White ipod. thanks
btw, I got it over a year ago...
