How to 'Shuffle Songs' with 20GB iPod?

When I click 'Shuffle Songs' from the main menu of my 20GB iPod it shuffles every song I have. How do I listen to all the songs of one artist only, shuffled? Or maybe all the songs from one album, shuffled? Is the iPod really set up to only shuffle everything in your library? That's lame.
