How can I simply listen to my iPod on a second mac? I do not want to transfer any songs, just use iTunes to listen to the music I have on my iPod.

when you plug your ipod into a second computer it asks you if you want to update the ipod with the library stored on that machine. after selecting NO, the ipod appears in the side bar and all the music is greyed out and unplayable.

With the iPod connected, go into preferences & choose "manually update songs". See if that makes it playable.
