I have an iPod Shuffle and had by the pool on the weekend (I know...not real smart). Anyway, it got a little bit wet and now won't work and doesn't want to charge. Has anyone else had the same problem or heard of anyone's Shuffle getting wet? any ideas or am I out of luck (didn't buy the warranty)...Thanks for any advice/suggestions.

Did you plug it in soon after it 'got wet' ?

Sounds like you did. You should have given it at least 72 hours to dry out. What do you mean by 'wet' by the way? Did it fall in the pool? Were you soaking wet and then grabbed it in your soaked hand? Would you grab anything electronic while soaking wet? Did it get splashed?

Common sense would tell, you could have put it in a plastic bag to keep it safe by the pool.

I'm sorry but you are probably out of luck.

Actually, it's my 11-year-old son's and he doesn't have much common sense...it didn't fall in the pool. It was on the deck by the pool and got a little wet from splashing and whatnot. I'm not sure when he tried to recharge it...I'll try to find out. Thanks.

You have to give more information when asking for help. We cannot read your mind through the web.

It is electronic, and if it had power by the poolside, and the circuitboad got wet, then it could have shorted out. Was the USB showing? That is the contact to charge and connect it in one, so that would be bad.

Take it back to Apple?

I realize I didn't provide much info, but that's all I have right now. Sorry. I'll try to find out more when I see my son tomorrow. He keeps the cap on the USB connector unless it's charging, so I assume it was on, but like I said, I'll find out more tomorrow. Also, he doesn't have a computer and charges his iPOD on his PS2. I'll try charging it on my computer tomorrow. Thanks again for the help.

I doubt Apple would take it back since it was his own fault it got wet.

This is my own personal advice here. Don't tell Apple it got wet... I'm guessing it was more a problem with the unit than anything. This moisture just exasperbated the situation that already existed.

I didn't buy the warranty with the purchase. Isn't there only a 30-day warranty on these things unless you buy the extra warranty?

There is a one-year standard warranty.

Let it dry first, then try plugging it in. If it doesn't, send in a service request, but don't mention the water. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

Thanks for all your help. It must have dried out. I charged it up last night and everything is working fine now.

Don't worry about people on the board being jerks, either. There are just people like that here. There are some helpful, polite people as well.

Yeah, don't worry about people on the broad being jerks. There are just people that just quit smoking like that here. I hope I was at least a bit helpful anyway.
