I was very excited when I started using the Shure E3c's with the foam earpieces, as sound was blocked out tremendously well, something which is of great value to me. That was before I plugged the E3c's into my iPod remote, though. When I do that, and the volume is low, there is noticable static. This static is covered up by the music, but it's definetely still there, and I don't want to hear it during song pauses and such. Has anyone had this problem?
If there's no way around this, I still can return the E3c's: But, I really do want something as good (or better) at sound isolation. Are there any other headphones which have different types of earbuds, including foam and/or triple flange (assuming triple flange is as good as foam)? I need sturdy cords, too.
Help!

.
Edit: My remote has had some sand get under the buttons, and it's about six months old: Could the remote be the problem? If that's the case, though, why would the Sony MDR-EX51's sound fine with the remote?
