any idea if searching for songs, viewing photos, or downloading/uploading files will be slower or faster?

also, can thise be used to hold data files temprarily, like the ipods?

Yes you can use it like a data drive just like any iPod. At first I thought it would be faster than a hard disk but It depends on the flash memory, but given samsung's 4gb model it should be fast for flash. Anyone else have specs? I've seen flash memory chips that claim to write 10mb/sec
