When trying to upgrade to iTunes 5, either via Software Update or via the download from the Apple site, I get a constant error message that asks me to close iTunes down before installing. This happens whether iTunes is open or not. To add insult to injury, the error message constantly reappears, despite the number of times I click 'OK'. I force quit any installer that is open and the message stlll constantly reappears.

Anyone experience a similar incident, and, more importantly, have a remedy?

If you use OS X. open Termnal, write
top

there you see opened prosesses, look for iTunes, remember the PID number (the number to the left of the name) close it with ctrl+z

then type
kill nnn

(nnn being the number that you remembered, That kills the prosess with the id nnn)

Try installing iTunes after that

There was another thread about this. I suggest a search next time.

You're probably running SizzlingKeys. Disable it before installing iTunes 5.
"You rise," he said, "like Aurora."

You were correct. Disabling Sizzling Keys solved all my problems. Also, I should have been more careful and searched, as I did find the other thread after the fact. Thank you all for your help!
