Greetings
Is there a better way to manually add your own playlists into your iPod?
Here's my problem:
I have a long list of playlists that consists of albums.
Since I have the iPod mini (limited on space), I have iTunes set to have me manually add the playlists.
Let's say the playlist is located at the bottom, currently, I would have to hold that playlist, and drag it ALL THE WAY TO THE TOP OF THE LIST where the iPod is located to drop it into the iPod playlists.
Is there a better way to add playlists onto the iPod then by dragging it into the iPod icon?

Easy, click "Browse" on the upper right corner. you will see Genre, Artist, Album columns on the top. Just drag the "Album" to your mini. I hope this is what you asked for.

is there an easy way to add playlists? (in case your album information is not properly tagged)
I'm not sure why Apple wouldn't make it to where you can right click (or push an icon) on a playlist, and have the option to "export to iPod" .....
[good tip though! I will use that one!]

Tag your albums as you go. It'll make your life a ton easier. How do you navigate them on the iPod? It's a bunch of work on the front end, but it's something you'll never have to redo and you'll get bunches more functionality out of the iPod.

I mostly have mixed albums.
So, my playlists are usually labeled as:
Artist Name - Album name
i.e.
Madonna - Confessions on a Dancefloor
then on my iPod, the only thing I have listed on the main menu is the "playlist" .....

i do the same as badtz...but im reconsidering this option because of the artist and album finds in all ipods (sans shuffle), it really makes life a whole heck of a lot easier.

I completely agree with everyone who says you should tag your music.
Here's a new idea if you have iTunes 5.0:
Make your album playlists as usual, but then put them in one playlist folder. Clicking on that folder will show you all of the files on your iPod at once. If you want, you could then use that master playlist to create new non-album playlists for your iPod.

I could use the "album" and "artist" lists in the iPod but here's the problem [at least i think it would be] :
- artists would come up with all results for that artist; if that artist has multiple albums on your iPod or they do remixes/produce other music for other artists in a compilation album, it would show up.
- album searching could work, but I frequently forget album names, and I'm better at remembering which artist (who compiled the album, not necessarily made the music for it) I want to listen to

Tag your music, not your playlists (i.e., label with the correct album/artist/genre/etc.).

Once you select the artist on your iPod, it allows you to select one or all of the artist's albums. You also have the option of grouping compilations in iTunes and/or your iPod (use Get Info in iTunes to set Compilation = Yes).
BTW, you do know you can have iTunes sync select playlists, right?

you are able to sync playlists, but it's annoying to go into preferences and select/de-select albums all the time. I would prefer to just right-click on a playlist [since each playlist = album] and have an option in the contextual menu to "export to iPod"......
Though the preferences solution does seem like a better method for me to use instead of how I currently do it [I don't like dragging a playlist at the bottom ALL the way to the top where the iPod is].... thanks for the tip! I'll do that until there's a better method to manual sync from apple
