Right now my nano is wrapped in plastic food wrap (Saran wrap). It doesn't look the greatest, but it works well, and allows better wheel use than the original plastic cover.
Has anyone else came up with some (more) clever ideas for protecting your nano until the sleeves come out?

a PDA screen protector has done an awesome job for my 10 month old iPod Photo; the back still looks brand new.
The clear film sticks tight, doesn't add thickness, comes off easily, and is cheap - ~$10-15 at an office supply store or at Amazon. I used Fellowes WrightRight. My nano got some right out of the box. Need to trim it with scissors or knife.

Mine just arrived, and until I can get a proper case for it, I'll keep it in the microfiber bag that came with a pair of sunglasses.

Can you use a PDA protector on the front and still have the wheel work? I thought about getting some of those, but figured they wouldn't work well over the wheel.

http://speckproducts.com/nano-toughskin.html
www.ilounge.com had a preview of the new Speck skins for the nano. angelmb's post showed the Cloud FunSkin.
I'm looking forward to the nano toughskin. Its rubber bumpers will help protect against alot of shocks and could possibly be overkill for the nano 'cuz it doesn't have a hard drive.
I have the Speck ToughSkin for my iPod 20GB and wouldn't go to any other case or skin. I've dropped my iPod a few times and never had to worry about it. I think I'm gonna get the nano toughskin as well.

The wheel will still work, but it'll look ugly. Don't put it on the wheel.

I've never covered the wheel with a PDA protector, though I do use some cool japanese stickers I found at Macworld SF. They don't impair the wheel functionality at all.

Yeah, I guess the a wheel hole could be cut out of the PDA protector with a little patience. Maybe I'll try that over the weekend. The saran wrap works fine, but it's all full of bubbles and wrinkles. Thanks.

Mine's in a nanoTube with a Nintendo DS screen protector. I'm waiting to see what the Contour Design iSee nano case is like before I decide which permanent case to buy.

i'm also using the silicon case. was thinking which one i should buy coz i kinda like the speck cloudy one, but it looks too bulky.. and also find that some other brands' cases with 2 string holes which looks like a "mickey mouse" ears,
finally, i got one from pivot and it's more user friendly, of course the main reason is with what they call OAD (anti-dust) things, but they do not have the screen protector yet... so have to buy the protector from somewhere else anyways, i give 4.5 stars to this case to protect my baby
btw, here is the link: http://shop.pivothk.com and it's only USD 16.xx for 2 pcs!!!!! reasonable price with high quality

I use no case at all and so far after about 2 weeks of use in my pockets there are only a couple of hairline scratches. It's the black one, too, so they show up a lot. Personally I don't see why people say it scratches easier than other iPods. I also own a 3rd generation iPod, and they scratch about the same.
