i work at an electronics retailer and this is nuts. heres a quick price comparison.
512mb SAMSUNG flash mp3 player w/ color screen (.7 inch) - 219.99CDN
1gb MPIO flash mp3 player w/ color screen (.75 inch) - 259.99CDN
1gb IRIVER flash mp3 player with fm recording, extended battery life - 209.99CDN
2gb APPLE IPOD nano flash mp3 player w/ large screen, slim design and scroll wheel - 249.99CDN
wtf is going on here. how long is it gonna take for other flash based mp3 player producers to adjust their prices. quite obiously, apple is gonna drive down prices like mad. i see no end in sight to apple's dominance.

They are all reducing pricing 10 to 20 percent in order to try and compete.

Wow, who would have thought Apple could become a Monopoly.

Ironic maybe, but not at all unthinkable!
Apple clearly has brilliant designers coming up with beautiful products. This goes for all of Apple's stuff of the day. Also, the interface is nearly perfect. The software works great with the hardware.
People are realizing that Apples are simply stunning and beautiful products that WORK!
It's not really a monopoly per se, but it's certainly something.

Indeed, Apple is beating the competition with surpassing quality and a compelling price spectrum. But there is still plenty of competition. If Apple wins 90% of the hearts, minds, and dollars of portable music listeners, this doesn't mean it has a monopoly because the implication of a monopoly is that competition is not only improbable, it is effectively impossible. But actually, since the debut of the iPod, there are in fact MORE options available in this space than ever before.
12 hours with my new Nano and I have to say that Apple's market share could very well go up from here. It's just stunningly beautiful. Precious.

It's not everyday the competition has to lower their prices to match Apple.
