After months of searching for a good price for a 20GB IPod, I finally found one on Amazon for $207 with a free ITunes card. A co-worker has an IPOD on the PC, as well and is having trouble getting MP3s to her IPod. I haven't received mine yet so I can play with it, but I was under the impression that I could transfer existing MP3s to an IPod. I really don't know anything about IPod so what are the do's and don'ts- the caveats, etc.?

iTunes will do it automatically after you tell iTunes where the MP3s are.

I figured it would be that simple. Just one other quick question- I don't use any music service, but in this example, if I were to use any other music service, I wouldn't be able to transfer them my IPod because of the license that I would get from that service, right?

MP3s will be transferred to the iPod which will play them.

The "other music services" you are referring to all use WMA files, which the iPod cannot play. So if you DID use, say, Napster to buy music, you would have to convert the WMAs to WAVs or MP3s before sending them to the iPod.

Moral: Use iTunes only or buy CDs for your iPod music.

Sounds pretty simple. I use AllofMP3 which should be pretty simple. ITunes is too expensive!
