Intermittent Noise - Import Issue?

	When playing back uploaded CDs, either through iTunes (on my Dell) or on my iPod 60GB I get intermittent noise (like static) on nummerous tracks (no problem with surface of CDs or functioning or the CD player). iPod suggested that it was an import speed problem, and suggested a command path I cannot find under Edit in iTunes. Anyone encounter such an issue?
