Ghetto, rather unattractive, but undeniably cool. Nicely done!

Sell it at Metropolitan Deluxe for $30 and they'd fly off the shelves! Nice ingenuity. I wouldn't do it, personally, but creative...

So, anyone found a decent skin or super-thin case that's actually shipping? All the places I looked have them coming soon...

i just used packing tape. nearly invisible. fully functional. adds almost NO size to the nano. no bubbles. a huge roll = insane ammounts of protection since you only use a small piece (actually 2 pieces). a roll will cost you approx 3 dollars and loose change. i bought 2 rolls for 1.99 because of a coupon. it's 3m packing tape. easy to remove the residue on the shiny part of the tape as well.

why are people paying insane ammounts of cash for "film" to put on their ipod nanos? anyone want me to post pictures? i did a crummy job (rushed it at 2am) and people couldnt tell that i had it on! it costs literally pennies!

if you want me to post pics of it, send me a pm or something, since i might not remember to log back on this page.

cheers!

$25 for a piece of rubber?! That's stupid.

K, look people. It made sense to protect ipods with HDs. But these nano badboys... wtf. Throw some packaging tape on them and forget about them. Vibration won't hurt them, and neithe will dropping htem most of the time since they're so light. Again, they have no moving parts, so a rubber surround for shock protection is kinda pointless.

Especially for $25. I could say maybe $8... max.

because i did a rush job on my most recent one, so it IS noticeable. but that being said, it would give a good idea how unnoticeable it is .. (does that even make any sense?!? lol)

just to show that it doesnt add any bulk to the ipod is all...

Have you tried removing the tape? Does the adhesive residue attract a lot of dust?

i have removed it once. originally when i got my nano, i put a piece on the back, and folded it over the sides. i kept the original apple sticker on the front, but the tab started to shred and the plastic tape began to get brittle (wrinkled, and easier to tear) so i decided to remove the apple tape on the front, and the packing tape on the back, so i could re tape the front for full cover (the apple one only covers approx 80-90 percent?!?)

it didnt leave any residue at the time, although i will say that tape leaves a residue on ITSELF if you can follow what i'm talking about. since tape is rolled on itself, even the non adhesive side will carry residue from the previous layer. that being said, i find that a solvent will remove it. in any case, i have no worries, and although i originally planned to buy some nano tubes, i think i'll stick with this solution and save some cash. while originally meant to be temporary, i think i'd prefer this to even a nanotube, something that would only add bulk, and still allow debris to get inside and scratch up my nano.

i planned on keeping the nano in tape, after i get nanotubes, so if i'm not going to remove the tape, what is the point of the nano tubes (for me). there would be none. interesting how things turn out.

today i handed my nano to a friend. he didnt notice the tape until i pointed it out. he was like .. dude, it's scratched already. i pointed out that it was the tape that was scratched, and it would have been the nano had i not taped it. he looked closely and finally noticed that it was taped. i think it's neat that he didnt realize it, considering how i consider it a rush job, done at a time when most men would be sleeping. lol.
and here i am typing when i should be getting some shut eye. night folks. i'll get pics up sooner or later.

I have been collecting all the announcements for the iPod Nano with photos and links back to the manufacturers. See iPod Nano Cases

They are coming out every day from fashion cases (leather) to skins and silicone. I am am going to get a Nano as soon as I get a little extra cash and then immediately protect it, I hate scratches

Best,
Jim
