Seems my Nano can't hold more than the smallest of charges. I assume it's the battery, but what do I know. Not looking forward to calling Apple, boxing it, and all that BS. First iPod problem I've had in like 5 different models.

I've tried all sorts of resets, draining the battery fully then recharging. If anybody has any other ideas I'd love to hear them. That is aside from the Ars Technica "drive over it with your Passat" method.

Send it in for repairs.

I would take full advantage of the warranty regardless of the BS involved. I'm happier knowing that the problem will get fixed rather than have a door knob in my possession.

One of the features that comes with each and every new Apple product is a warranty. How much more hassle than trying "all sorts of resets, draining the battery fully then recharging," etc. is it to just box it up and send it back? You have already paid for the warranty, so use it.

Just thought there might a trick to getting the battery to accept a full charge. Thanks for sarcastic and insulting reply. I had no idea it came with a warranty, jerk.

No need for anyone to get hostile. It's difficult to convey sarcasm and other emotions in a post, so I'm sure it is just a misunderstanding.

Definetly send it in to Apple for repairs. Typically, they have it back to you within a week!

Unfortunately, Apple usually makes you try all those resets and junk BEFORE they allow to to send it in for warranty. Take it to a local Apple store if you have one, otherwise call them now.

Chris,

I have seen scores of people who feel that they cannot deal with life for one day without their iPod, even if it doesn't work. They will spend literally days trying to reset and re-reset and charge and recharge, etc. their iPod without ever thinking of trying the most logical thing to do with a new product-get the service they paid for. I did not mean to imply that you didn't know there was a warranty on your iPod, but that you've obviously gone through a lot of trouble without success, so it seemed time to part with it. As I said, a lot of people don't seem to be able to pry their iPods out of their OWN hands...

And I really don't think my wording was even sarcastic-Apple's warranty (except for some time limits) seems to be one of the better ones in the whole industry, and unlike some companies, Apple appears to TRY to handle warranty issues effectively. I wasn't trying to be a jerk, and I'd prefer not to be called one.
