i have a 20gb ipod with what i understand as the latest update for it (3.1) and have also updated to itunes6. now i cannot play purchased music (since 6) on the ipod. it plays on my computer and transfers seemingly ok, but just skips over the song when i try to play it on the ipod. all my previous purchased and transfered songs are still ok. i've tried re-setting the ipod and that didn't help either. seems that something in itunes6 has screwed up my ipods abiltity to play the new songs. any thoughts, links, help!?!
thank you

You're the not the first person to say this. I don't know what the solution is, but you could try doing a restore of your iPod (use the iPod software updater to reinitialize it to the factory settings). This will erase your music, but assuming you have it on your computer, it's just a matter of resyncing to get it back on the iPod.

thanks Icruise. yeah, i've seen others with the same complaints but no one seems to have a fix that works for me. i'm going to try a Restore eventually, but was trying to avoid the hassle.
thx

Change it from whatever sync you have on it to another (auto-sync to manual, for example). You could also try playing a song from iPod when it's hooked up (on manual sync). You'll be asked to authorize the iPod for playing iTMS content.

Failing that, try the update software (even if you're up-tp-date), then restore as a final option.
