i was recently in the Apple store in Soho/NYC and they had the nano's in the original ipod docks
sure it was a bit off kilter in there and was "swimming" in the open space but it was mounted.

My hope is to get a new USB cable and attach it to the previous models dock -- i was hoping the new Ipod video will still fit in the dock - rather than buy another one.

Anyone had any luck with this?

The nano and the 5G's come with a dock adapter.

I tried my 60GB 5G iPod in my 20GB 3G's dock. It doesn't fit quite right. There's a bit of strain on the dock connector. It makes electrical contact, but its an awkward fit. The 30GB model might fit, since its thinner than the 60GB. But as it is, I wouldn't feel comfortable using my old 3G's dock with the 60GB vIdeo-Pod.
