If I don't use my ipod all day, it sometimes won't turn on the next day. I have to plug it into the wall adapter to reset it. This has happened twice so far (and the ipod is fairly new, I got it in mid-september) and the first time I got the "go to apple for service" sign, then it booted up fine.

I read another thread similar to this problem and the guy was told to update his ipod... so I'm going to do that later on (curses... I'm not an admin on this computer!) But any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Same problem, probbaly the same guy too lol...

I noticed that when mine does it, if I just hit a key on the scroll wheel like menu or play and just give it a second, it does come back, I was probably too impatient. Shows the apple logo, but I also noticed that it remembers what was last playing so I'm wondering if it's a real problem or not. I'm wondering if it's doing some kind of "deep sleep" and totally tuning itself off, but it's having to do a mini boot process to get going again. I thought it was really crashing, but until I noticed it was remembering what I had playing last, I'm not so sure now if it is a problem.

I turned mine off at 7:00 and today at 3:00 when I swapped the hold switch over it came right back to life, 8 hours of time sitting. Before I was letting it sit over 12 hours or so. I won't be able to let it sit that long until the weekend though, but if anything else pops up I'll let you know.

I've never had to re-plug mine back in to get it to start back up though.
