hey, my friend gave me his 60gb ipod color screen ( ive lost track of the generation numbers ) to put songs onto. i hda to restore it and it is telling me i need to plug it into an ac adapter, which i do not have ( i just have a usb thingy ). anyone know how to fix this problem im having?

Everything Im finding on the net says you need to complete the update with the power adapter, U might need to borrow one from a friend. I'll keep looking to see if I can find a way around it. One thing you might try and is taking it to a store that has Ipods on display to borrow the adapter for a couple minutes.

i was able to restore my new black 60gb ipod without the adapter, but my old 60gb photo needed the adapter
