i use my ipod with a powerbook - can i use it with a pc? i want to use it to transfer data from a pc to my mac - as a memory stick effectively. reason i'm asking, not just trying, is cos i have to cycle 5 miles to my friend's house to get the data, and i wanted to check first.

and if my friend's pc doesnt have the appropriate software on it, where would i get that from?

thanks.

Go to http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/ and get the latest software updater for windows. Take your iPod to your friend's house, and format it as windows using that software. Make sure you have a back up of anything that was on the iPod on your mac first, as this will erase all the files on it, and format it to FAT32 - a file format which can be used on both PC and Mac.

Transfer the data, do what you want. Then, when you get back home, plug your iPod in. iTunes will ask if you want to link it to your iTunes library on the mac. Say yes.
