I have an iPod photo & Shuffle and use them
with the latest versions of iTunes, both on a
Dell PC and a Mac G5. The problem happens
when I fill one player with songs and then
connect into a different system to add additional
music. I am prompted to clear all songs or leave
the playlist as is. If I choose leave the playlist as
is, then no iPod icon shows up and there is no
way to add additional songs to the existsing
playlist. Is this a cross-platform conundrum or
can anyone advise a solution? thanks.

In the iTunes iPod preferences. Instead of syncing with your whole library or a few playlists, the iPod will be like a disk that you manually drag the songs into. That's the only way to use it with more than one computer.

I was looking at Apple's knowledge base because I was experiencing the same issue. From what I found, you can only use the iPod w/more than one computer if it is the same platform. So, you can use it on 2 or more Windows machines or 2 or more Mac machines, but you can't mix and match.

No that's not true. I've verified this by using my iPod with both my Mac and Windows boxes. The iPod needs to be Windows formatted for this to work, however.
