Hi,
Anybody got any ideas on the below error:

"Attempting to copy to the disc "iPod" failed. An unknown error occurred (-51)."

This happens when I try to add new tunes to my iPod (40gb 3rd gen click-wheel) I've got the latest version of iTunes and my iPod is up to date with the latest firmware.

I have noticed two other strange things:

When my iPod is displayed on my desktop it is not an iPod icon, as it once was, but just a mountable disc icon.

I have tried to download and install the latest updater (last one was deleted) but I am not able to, so I can't even format the iPod.

I've got an iMac G5 and it's running Panther. The iPod plays fine, but it seems to master reset itself every couple of weeks...it doesn't format itself but just resets the menus and I have to select language and reset all my menus.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

BB

You aren't able to download and install the updater? Or do you mean that the updater doesn't see your iPod?

I'm able to download the updater but I just can't install it for some reason.

I'll get back to you on it...I'm just re-downloading the latest version. Somebody went and deleted the damn thing.
